What’s the best way to kill flies in the home? There are many answers depending on the application your looking for. Like my other posts we’ll go with the one that most people would experience. I’m sure if you live on a farm, a trap or bait would be the answer. But in a domestic situation where they are just an annoyance in the kitchen, a cleaner, more precise method is more effective and satisfying.
For the longest time I used the “Tennis Racquet” option which is satisfying in its own way. This small racquet takes a battery and gives a small shock when it touches the middle. The Idea is to swing while its flying by and shock it out of the air. This gives a little noise and is fairly effective. The biggest downside is that sometimes the dead little buggers end up somewhere you don’t want them and its hard to control that.
Then one day my dad got what’s called the Bug-a-Salt. This is a small, pump-action salt shooter that for sure is the best way to kill flies. You have to get relatively close and once you get the aim down, its incredibly precise, and fun! They still tend to make a mess but when you shoot them at least you can aim in the direction that you choose. The fact that it shoots a salt / shotgun style spray means your aim doesn’t have to be perfect.
When I first got the gun I shot my palm just to see the potential to know what I was dealing with. It did draw blood. Please be responsible with this gun, especially if you have kids.
So what is the best way to kill flies? The Fly-a-Salt is definitely the most satisfying and precise way to kill flies in the home.
