What’s the best and easiest Super Bowl appetizer? Well it depends on what you call easy. I could whip this up in less that 15 minutes and is easy to put together on the spot at a guests house if needed.
But before we get into the actual ingredience, lets hear where this unique sauce came from. Back in the late 70s my parents would go on annual, camping trips. One of their friends would bring this every year and it was a hit that made it into our family tradition.
To start off well get a 32oz jar of Grape Jelly. You can play with different flavors but grape is the first flavor that I learned. Next you get a 14oz yellow mustard and combine them in a medium sized pot over medium heat. Stir the mixture until most of the jelly is dissolved and add 2 – 12 oz bags of Lil smokies. Bring to a light boil and simmer over medium-low heat until the sausages are cooked, stirring often. Let cool until warm and serve!
There’s no real prep time and cleanup is easy. This would make a great Crock-pot or Insta-pot recipe and the sweet, tangy flavor is something new for most. Once you get the flavor profile down you can play with any combination of different flavor jellies and mustards. One of my other favorites is hot Chinese mustard and Pineapple jelly. So what is the best and easiest Super Bowl appetizer? I think this is the one!
